In a previous review, I mentioned how I’ve woven music into almost every part of my daily routine whether that because I’m working, showering, or even mowing the lawn, there’s always music playing in the background. It’s like a subtle soundtrack that helps me focus and clears my mind.

At the moment, my fiancé and I live in different places and one annoyance I always had about being at her place was that she didn’t have any functional way of listening to music. I don’t count the crummy Alexa speaker as suitable.

Whenever we cooked dinner or meal prepped together, it felt a bit flat without music filling the space. No background tunes to sing along to or to brighten up the silence can feel weird, even in the room with your fiancé.

That’s when Tribit came to the rescue with their XSound Plus 2 portable wireless speaker!

Compact and pill-shaped, this rugged little speaker has been a game changer for us. Whether we’re in the kitchen or out for the day, it’s easy to carry and use wherever we go.

Now, let’s dive into an overview of the Tribit XSound Plus 2 Portable Speaker.

Welcome to my review of the Tribit XSound Plus 2 Portable Speaker.

    Design

The Tribit XSound Plus 2 features a rugged, pill-shaped design encased in a durable rubber housing. While Tribit doesn’t specifically market this speaker as rugged, its solid build certainly feels tough.

Although it isn’t dust-resistant, it boasts an IPX7 waterproof rating, meaning it can handle significant exposure to water which makes it the perfect speaker for a pool or spa day. I would stay away from the beach outings due to sand.

Having reviewed several Tribit products over the years, one thing I consistently appreciate is their simplicity. There’s no need for apps, complex settings, or unnecessary customization, just straightforward, easy-to-use buttons.

On the XSound Plus 2, the rubberized buttons give you control over power, Bluetooth, volume, the phone’s voice assistant, an equalizer, and a stereo pairing option.

Powering on the speaker is as simple as a quick press of the power button, followed by a soft confirmation tone. However, turning it off can sometimes be too easy because I’ve accidentally switched it off if you grab it the wrong way. A press-and-hold feature for powering down might have been a better design choice.

The two front-facing speakers are protected by a sturdy metal grille, while the rear-firing subwoofer is recessed into the body, shielding it from accidental bumps or pokes.

For portability, Tribit has smartly included a handy lanyard, allowing you to attach the speaker to your backpack, wrist, or even an umbrella with ease.

The matte black finish and pill-shaped form are designed to sit flat on its built-in feet, but you can place it in any orientation without impacting its sound performance.

Lastly, on the back of the speaker, you’ll find an AUX input and a USB-C charging port. I’m especially pleased to see Tribit adopting USB-C, and they’ve included a decently long charging cable in the box for added convenience.

    Functionality

Getting started with the Tribit XSound Plus 2 is straightforward. Pairing the device to your phone is quick and easy, although there isn’t a seamless pairing experience like you might find on some other devices. Using traditional Bluetooth methods, the process takes less than a minute.

The XSound Plus 2 features two 15W speakers and a rear-facing XBass subwoofer. For a portable and lightweight speaker, the sound quality is impressive. The mids are clear, the highs are crisp, and the bass is surprisingly robust for its size.

Whether listening to various genres of music or using it for general playback, I was consistently pleased with the audio quality, especially considering its compact design and affordable price point.

One of the standout features is the battery life, with an advertised 24-hour playtime. In my experience over the past month and a half, I haven’t needed to charge it even once, making it perfect for extended use or even a full vacation without worrying about recharging.

The speaker comes equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, ensuring a stable and efficient connection.

Tribit also included Party Mode, which allows you to pair multiple speakers to a single phone. This feature is particularly useful for playing music in multiple rooms, ideal for gatherings or parties.

Additionally, the XSound Plus 2 includes a built-in microphone for hands-free calling. While I wouldn’t recommend it for lengthy conversations, it works well for quick calls. The sound quality is clear enough, although your voice will come through as if you’re on speakerphone.

Overall, the Tribit XSound Plus 2 is a well-rounded portable speaker. Its compact pill-shaped design, durable rubber exterior, and impressive 30W sound make it a solid choice for travel or casual use. With great sound, long-lasting battery life, and convenient features like Party Mode and hands-free calling, it’s a fantastic companion for any outing or trip.

    My Final Thoughts

In conclusion, I’m once again impressed with Tribit’s offering. The XSound Plus 2 is a solid addition to their lineup, delivering everything you could want in a portable speaker at an affordable price.

It combines great sound quality, durability, and practical features into one compact device. With its 30W speakers, Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C charging, and long battery life, it covers all the bases for a portable speaker.

At just $58 on Amazon, it’s hard to find a reason to be disappointed with this purchase. Whether you’re using it on a hike, by the pool, in your apartment, or just about anywhere, it’s a reliable companion.

Tribit has built a recognizable brand, and with a 4.7-star rating on Amazon, it’s clear that this speaker lives up to the positive feedback from its users.
