I recently started playing Diablo 4 with my brother and dad, and it’s been an super fun experience. From battling hell-bound demons to exploring the extensive player customization, the game has been a memorable adventure that will go down as a memorable game.

My gaming journey with Blizzard games began back with Diablo 2. I played it on my dad’s old Dell laptop and I still remember those nostalgic graphics. Diablo 4 is that modern gaming memory that I’m recalling from the Diablo 2 days.

A little while back, we revisited Diablo 2 recently when it was on sale, which brought back a lot of those cherished memories. There’s something special about reliving those classic gaming moments.

The advancements in technology never cease to amaze me. Even comparing Diablo 3 to Diablo 4, the leap in graphics is astonishing. The intricate physics, detailed design, and compelling story in Diablo 4 are all enhanced by cutting-edge technology, making it a truly immersive experience.

Back when Diablo 2 was the latest craze, we used subpar microphones that made us sound like we were from a distant planet. Today, the variety and quality of microphones available is overwhelming.

For those overwhelmed with just how many offerings are found on Amazon when searching “Gaming microphone”, today we’re going to showcase Fifine’s latest addition to their lineup. A microphone that features a game and chat volume controller, built-in noise-canceling technology, RGB lighting, and universal compatibility.

Welcome to my overview of the Fifine Ampligame AM6.

    Design

The AM6 microphone is impressively designed to provide convenience and versatility right out of the box. It comes fully assembled, attached to a sturdy metal L-shaped stand and a heavy plastic base-foot. This design allows users to easily pivot the microphone up or down towards their mouth, ensuring optimal sound capture.

For added functionality, the AM6’s stand can be completely disassembled, offering multiple configuration options. Users can mount it to a microphone arm by unscrewing the base and attaching the L-shaped bracket or by using an adapter to connect it to different setups. This adaptability ensures the AM6 can fit seamlessly into any user’s configuration.

The package includes a reasonably long USB-C cable that powers the microphone and transmits data to various devices. While a USB-C to USB-C cable might have been preferable for some users, Fifine’s choice of a USB-C to USB-A cable enhances compatibility with a wider range of gaming devices, including consoles. The cable also comes with a reusable cable tie for easy management.

Fifine’s signature metal pop filter is also included. This filter features their subtle screen-printed 🙂 logo, which is only noticeable in the right lighting or when pointed out, ensuring it doesn’t clash with your setup’s design. The pop filter is easily removable, simply clipping into place.

The AM6 itself is made from matte black plastic, which resists fingerprints and smudges reasonably well. Some minor smudging occurred during the review period when moving the microphone around, but it wasn’t significant.

On the front of the microphone is a large plastic knob for adjusting the volume of voices or game sounds, a useful feature for balancing audio levels during gaming sessions. This knob also has a nice center point that clicks into place to ensure you can set it to a 50/50 mixture.

The right side of the AM6 houses two additional plastic knobs that control microphone gain and headphone volume.

For quick muting, the top of the AM6 has a capacitive mute button, providing a satisfying tap to mute the microphone instantly. An LED then glows red (or green) to visually identify the microphone’s mute status.

At the bottom of the AM6, you’ll find the noise-suppression button, RGB control button, 3.5mm headphone jack, and the built-in noise-suppression microphone. These features will be discussed in more detail in the next section.

Finally, the AM6 wouldn’t be complete without its RGB lighting, a staple for any gaming device.

RGB lighting is built into the microphone grill and wraps around the bottom of the AM6. Users can choose from six static two-tone color options, six static single-color options, and various dynamic two-tone and single-color breathing modes. The RGB colors are vibrant but not overpowering, adding a subtle yet appealing aesthetic to any setup.

    Functionality

Fifine has paid great attention to detail with the AM6 microphone, starting with a usable user manual. Though the English is only adequate, the manual features full-color images that are easy to understand, with setup guides for Windows, MacOS, and even Discord.

The AM6 is a condenser microphone with simple plug-and-play connectivity. Once connected, it automatically installs drivers for the Fifine Game and Play setup, allowing you to easily direct audio streams to the appropriate settings within apps such as Discord.

One minor issue is the USB-C connection’s low position on the microphone body, which can cause some stress on the cable when the microphone is tilted upwards. However, this is a small drawback in an otherwise well-designed product.

I tested the AM6 with two primary applications: Microsoft Teams and Discord. For work calls, the AM6 excels. Its dual noise-canceling microphones effectively cut out background noise such as desk taps, other household members, keyboards, and mouse clicks, while keeping my voice clear.

The AM6 also supports the mute button functionality in Microsoft Teams, which was a pleasant surprise.

In Discord, the AM6 truly shines for gaming. I found the Game and Chat volume knob to be more useful than expected. It was effortless to adjust the volume of friends and family during conversations with a simple twist of the dial. During intense gaming moments, increasing the game volume was just as easy.

It should be noted that the controller knob for Game and Chat are exclusive to Windows or MacOS.

The RGB lighting on the AM6 is subtle, providing a pleasant glow at night. The microphone remembers its last preset color setting even after being unplugged, adding to its convenience.

To use the game and voice volume knob, you’ll need to connect your headphones to the 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom of the AM6. This setup is perfect for earbuds and low-powered microphones, making the AM6 an excellent choice for podcasting due to its input and output features.

During testing, the AM6’s condenser microphone showcased its ability to pick up a lot of volume and deliver crystal-clear sound. However, without any software or the built-in noise suppression, it will pick up every keyboard click and other ambient noises.

When I listened to recordings of myself, I was impressed by the clarity of my voice. It felt like I was in the same room. This level of quality is reminiscent of professional podcasts, all from this affordable microphone.

Enabling the AM6’s noise suppression does result in some loss of clarity, making the sound slightly muffled, as if a blanket were placed over the microphone. While it significantly reduces background noise, it might not be the best option for those seeking the highest audio fidelity. For better noise suppression, I recommend using software like Nvidia Broadcast or the built-in options in Teams and Discord.

Nonetheless, the built-in noise suppression does allow devices like Consoles to have suppression where others would lack it.

Considering the price point of the AM6, I am very pleased with its performance. It’s an excellent option for those who want a condenser microphone without the hassle of extra equipment and complicated noise cancellation.

Fifine offers a complete package that any gamer, remote worker, or podcaster can confidently use and be satisfied with their purchase.

    My Final Thoughts

Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with Fifine’s latest product. It’s a feature-rich device that caters to any user’s needs, from gaming to professional use. Priced at $53 on Amazon, it offers excellent value with USB-C power, RGB lighting, multiple mounting options, and built-in Game/Chat volume control.

The AM6 delivers crystal-clear audio, making it suitable for various applications, whether for gaming, work calls, or podcasting. Its dual noise-canceling microphones ensure your voice is heard clearly without background noise, and the intuitive controls provide easy adjustments.

Much like my previous experiences with Fifine products, I highly recommend the AM6 to anyone looking for a versatile and high-quality microphone. It’s a great addition to any setup, offering professional-grade features at an affordable price.
