Not many companies create new products that immediately catch my eye. There’s so much new technology being released every week that it’s becoming the era when Steve Jobs left Apple and the brand started to go crazy releasing new products every few months.
Synology, however, is someone that happens to always catch my attention when they release something new. You see, their products aren’t just revisions of the previous model, but something entirely new and exciting.
As a brand who pioneers with on-premises storage solutions, Synology’s latest offerings look to get their product name into small-to-medium-sized businesses and give them access to some big-boy toys.
Up first is the new DS1019+, a 5-bay desktop network attached storage (NAS) that has a unique spin on things.
You see, when I first got to know Synology, I didn’t know a whole lot about their products and brands. Now, I recommend them as often and as frequent as I can. Likewise, I find new and exciting opportunities to use them at my everyday IT job.
The DS1019+’s purpose in the Synology lineup is to allow small business and IT enthusiasts a chance to join the Synology world. The 5-bay storage enclosure can hold up to 140TB which allows small business to record security footage, employee files, or business documents or allows home IT enthusiasts a way to host their large media file collection.
Having a friendly entry cost, small businesses won’t have to worry about finding the available funds and can become involved in learning all things Synology.
Following the DS1019+, Synology has released the DS2419+, a 12-bay workhorse that strives to enable medium-sized businesses that are rapidly growing their environment.
As an entirely standalone unit (no rack required, or large power delivery system needed), the DS2419+’s quad-core 2.1GHz CPU and 4GB of DDR4 (up to 32GB) RAM allows small IT teams offer their growing business with technology that will help them achieve their goals.
With a maximum storage volume of 336TB, the DS2419+ becomes a long-term investment for smaller IT teams that liberates the team’s worries.
As Synology expands their market share, their offerings to the world get better and better. I’m excited to get my hands on both the DS1019+ and DS2419+ and soon to post my full review of both. Stay tuned.
