With the usual extreme predictability of Apple’s events, Apple sent out an invitation this week announcing their October 22nd iPad event.

With the release of the new iPhone 5s only a month ago, Apple has followed the pattern of an iPhone release in September and iPad release in October. The live news event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center of the Arts in San Francisco at 10 a.m., which is where all iPad announcements have been made in the past.

Apple is known for unique designs in their invitations giving hints to what the show will reveal. Like the iPhone 5s’s invitation had circles to symbolize the new home button, Apple’s new October invitation states “We still have a lot to cover,” which is speculated to be a new iPad Smart cover since the new iPad will most likely be smaller.

As this is Apple’s off year, hoping for a complete redesign or massive changes to the iPad will most likely be futile, but many are hoping for at least an iPad Mini with a retina display or a full sized iPad with a 64bit processor.

As Apple is falling behind in the smartphone and tablet market, changes will need to be made at this event. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, hinted that there are some big product changes ready for Q1 of next year.
