With the successful release of the 4th Generation i5 and i7 Intel CPUs, Intel continues to innovate, thereby creating what is known as the Intel Iris Pro CPU.

The Iris Pro CPU is a new breed of processors that is designed for laptop users to satisfy their gaming needs.

Typically, laptops come with what is called an integrated GPU where the CPU takes the role of both the processor and graphics. After the second generation of Intel CPUs, Intel pretty much hit the nail on the head with their Intel HD Graphics.

Intel’s graphics preformed well for anybody who just used their laptop as an everyday PC, but when it was time for gaming the processor just couldn’t handle the load, causing lag or a major decrease in performance. Just like that, you are left with two options, either buy a laptop with a dedicated graphics card or give up the laptop gaming life.

Well, with the new 4th Generation Intel CPUs, Intel has not forgotten about those many laptop gamers. The new Iris Pro 4th Gen Core 17-4750HQ running at a stock 2GHz clock speed has the ability to finally take on both the processor and graphic roles.

Turbo Boost increases the clock speed to 3.2GHz. It will drain your battery, but the more important thing is that this CPU is housing a 40 execution unit set-up with 128MB eDRAM cache to advance the Iris Pro graphics.

It’s great to see Intel still innovating with their integrated graphics as it helps keep laptop prices down, yet still give those laptop owners the option to play demanding games such as Bioshock Infinite at 40fps. This may just be a new project from Intel but hopefully this turns into something immense.
