Just a few months ago Samsung announced their brand new smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S III. Shortly after the release many tech websites such as PCMag and CNet gave it outstanding reviews. Not only were the websites falling in love with the device but so were the customers. Myself and a few others here at TSF have bought one.

On thursday, September 6th 2012, Samsung announced that they have sold over 20 million Galaxy S III’s in just 100 days; which make the S III the most successful smartphone to date. Two months ago Samsung reached their sales goal of shipping 10 million smartphones in less than two months, which means Samsung was selling 190,000 S III’s every day. Comparing this to the iPhone 4S sales, Apple sold four million in the first three days.

With so many successful sales Samsung announced new colors for the Galaxy S III, amber brown, garnet red, sapphire black, and titanium grey; currently the phone comes in pearl white or pebble blue. Not only will the phone get new colors, Samsung also said that the phone will receive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the near future.

The Galaxy S III displays a 4.8in Super AMOLED 1280 by 720 screen, comes with Android 4.0 ICE, and takes photos with its 8 megapixel rear camera and its 1.9 megapixel front camera. In the beginning of this year Samsung surpassed Nokia as becoming the top phone maker in the world; Nokia held that title for 14 years.

Many are awaiting the new iPhone 5 not just to buy but to compare it to its predecessor, the Galaxy S III. Only spec will show how the phones match up and who comes out top. Just last week we saw the ending of the Apple vs. Samsung patent war but who knows, the iPhone 5 may start a whole new one.
